Emily + Shawn - Liuna Station, Hamilton Wedding

It really was the perfect day. The sun was shining, blossoms were in full bloom, and their family and friends surrounded them with so much love that the warmth of May felt even warmer. Emily got ready in the home she grew up in and during the chaos that is the getting ready process, she took some time to really live in the moment. She's the kind of person who would let everyone else get ready before even considering herself. She held her sisters baby as he cried, offered that her mother-in-law have her makeup done first, and made sure everything ran as smoothly as possible. That's just the type of person Emily is. In her mind nothing could go wrong because all she really cared about was marrying the man she loves. Shawn is someone who can make her laugh in an instant. Someone who she looks forward to curling up on the couch with - whether it be to watch their favourite movies together or to just enjoying one another's company. To see that boy at the end of the aisle waiting for her kept her calm and excited.

During the ceremony, we saw Shawn and Emily stealing quick peaks at one another, squeezing each other's hands with excitement, and laughing. Lots of laughter. One thing I really loved about their wedding was that they wanted to find a way to include both sides of the family evenly. They had the ceremony in Simcoe close to Emily's home and the reception in Hamilton, where Shawn lives. They made their day unique and special to them and in turn created such a memorable day for not only them, but for everyone else as well. The evening was spent dancing to a live band and Shawn and Emily making the rounds, ensuring that everyone was having a great time. That was always their priority. They are such special people.

Shawn and Emily, I wish you an amazing marriage together. I am not only honoured to call you guys friends but want to thank you for having me document this huge and beautiful milestone in your life. And thank goodness you're married now.... wouldn't want those tattoos to go to waste ;) Love you guys!

Danna + Dan - Toronto Engagement

They met through mutual friends and though they didn't fall into each others arms right away, they were unknowingly building their friendship that would one day turn into something more. When they did begin dating, it was instant chemistry. They were a perfect fit. Danna and Dan or 'Dan Squared' as they are often referred to as, can make each other laugh at any given time. These photos are proof. Together they are infectious. And Danna's laugh? Oh my goodness, cutest girl ever.

After years of dating, Dan felt it was time. But it had to be special. Danna and her friends are as close as close can be. With one of Danna's best friends living in Vancouver, and with it being the Olympics at that time, Danna and Dan took a trip out to visit her and to join in on the festivities. While Danna was out, Dan set up their hotel room with tons of balloons (Danna's favourite) and proposed in front of a gorgeous view overlooking Vancouver. But that's not all, he also surprised Danna with a trip to Florida where he had secretly arranged both families to be there waiting for them when they got there. Dan's just awesome like that.

For their engagement session, we ventured around where they live and while I was excited to capture their favourite spots, I was also extremely jealous at the fact that they live right above a Starbucks. Could life be any better? Marrying the man of your dreams and getting Venti Iced Coffee's every morning? Sounds like a dream world to me.

I love more than anything when a groom-to-be tells me how much fun the session was and that it wasn't as awkward as he thought it might be. Makes me feel like giving him a hug right then and there. Thanks for hugging me back, Dan :) 'Dan Squared', I am so excited for your wedding this summer and am honoured to be your photographer! Here are some of my favourites...

It's May already? What???

April was fabulous and even though slightly colder than March (I am so confused) it's wedding season and the crazy amounts of shooting has begun. E-sessions, Bridal Showers, Weddings... so many good things to share that I am just bursting at the seams. I am so excited for what this month holds, and so far, it's proven to be fabulous. Remind me that I need to get married May 5th weekend - the weather was perfection!

Ashley + Frank - Liuna Station, Hamilton Wedding

They met at a spot you often hear isn't the place to meet your future husband at; the bar. Ashley had planned a night out with her girlfriends to celebrate their friendship and to have a good time with the girls. After a few drinks she was singing to every tune and having the time of her life. She spotted a guy whom she thought looked very handsome and decided she would get his attention. They chatted for a while and she was intrigued. At some point in the conversation the two stopped chatting and began belting out "Don't Stop Believing." That handsome man, named Frank, was hooked. She was adorable. Despite her friends efforts to steal her away and get her dancing again, Ashley wasn't done! She had to get his number, of course. Her friends took it down for her, unsure if they should change a digit or two, but when Ashley told them "I am going to marry that man," they let her keep the real one. I bet they are glad now that they didn't give her a fake :)

Ashley and Frank were married on a beautiful day in April that called for lots of rain but ended up being perfect! Ashley beamed from ear to ear the entire day and never stopped smiling. Love her! I caught Frank sending her glances and smiles throughout the day, admiring his girl and the woman he can know call his wife. During his speech after he told her how much he loved her, he had a surprise. Frank had the dj play, "Don't Stop Believing" and the two of them danced to the song that brought them together. They danced and were reminded of the night they met and the night when Ashley had already decided that Frank was the one.

Ashley and Frank, thank you so much for having me there to capture your special day and to document the love you have for one another. I wish you all the love and laughter in the world and hope it is always as magical as the night you met. xo

What a beautiful bride! Ashley's gorgeous makeup was done by the talented Monika of Makeup Worx!

The newly married Mr. and Mrs. Zecca! Two of my favourites....Love the soft coloured bridesmaid dresses...Ashley, you're fierce!!! We headed back to their wedding venue at Liuna Station for a few more photos!

The wedding day was designed and styled by Lisa Garofalo of Bliss Events - she did an amazing job! Shoutout to Christina as well :) How can you not adore her smile?? So gorgeous.

Alicia's 'Classy and Fabulous' Bridal Shower - Liuna Station, Hamilton

Last weekend I had the pleasure of shooting a gorgeous bridal shower that left me in awe. Not only is the bride-to-be, Alicia, one of the sweetest people that you'll ever meet, but she's insanely beautiful too. To top it off, she has impeccably good taste. Her choice of shower theme had us bonding over our love for soft colour palettes and everything girlie.

The theme of the shower was based on a quote by Coco Chanel, "A girl should be two things, classy and fabulous!" and Alicia is exactly that. The theme could not have fit her more perfectly. There were just so many details to capture including one of my favourites - the table numbers that were made to look exactly like a Chanel No. 5 perfume bottle. Amazing idea! I was thrilled to be there to document her shower filled with excitement for her upcoming marriage to her sweetheart of a fiance, Mattie. Thanks to the help of her amazing bridesmaids and incredible mothers, the shower was perfect from start to finish. Alicia beamed the entire day and I can only imagine how she will look on her wedding day.

Alicia, thank you so much for including me in your special day and making me feel like "one of the girls." It was an event I won't soon forget and am still talking about! Thank you for being so beautiful inside and out :)

As a party favour, every lady was given a cake stand. Such a great idea and so pretty... I love mine! At the end of the shower, it is Italian tradition that the groom-to-be arrives and brings the mothers, grandmothers, and his bride, a bouquet of flowers. Mattie is a sweetheart though, and brought every woman who attended a pink rose. We snuck out and took a few shots shortly after...Love these two...and we couldn't forget Alicia's adorable dog Tito! Look at his outfit!

Laura + David - Cootes Paradise, Hamilton Engagement

They both grew up in the same city but went to different high schools. Thanks to a mutual friend though, Laura and David were introduced online and decided they would casually chat with one another. After a few months of this online chatting, David knew he was hooked. Their personalities were a total match. But what did she look like? They had never exchanged photos but really, it didn't matter. Deep down, they knew they had something very special. David finally got up the nerve to ask Laura on a date to dinner and that's when they realized that it was more than just their personalities that they loved about each other. As they explain it, "it was love at first sight."

Laura and David began dating soon after that night. Though they attended different colleges and were a part from one another when Laura travelled to Spain for 6 months, their relationship only grew stronger with time and distance. Fast forward 10 years, and Laura and David are planning their wedding for this coming July. I am eagerly awaiting the big day as I know it will be a gorgeous celebration of two people who were meant to be together.

We had such a blast hanging out in Westdale and Cootes Paradise for their engagement session. We shot at the perfect time when the cherry blossoms had just come into full bloom. There was so much 'pretty' that I just couldn't stop shooting. If these pictures aren't proof at how in love these two are, than I don't know what is. They are an absolute match and I am honoured to document their love.

They were such naturals - this was one of the first frames snapped. I love their ability to laugh with one another. There was absolutely nothing forced about them. Laura kept pulling out the BEST looks - she was amazing. You guys are stunning! Love me some cherry blossoms....swoon.

Alina + Ramin - Hamilton Engagement

Alina and I met through a mutual friend and chatted back and forth for quite some time. She was always quick to send me a message filled with compliments after one of my latest blog posts. Sadly, she had already hired her wedding photographer when she came across my work, but regardless, we knew we had to work together. Alina knew she wanted photos that really showcased who she and Ramin are when they are together. Adorable and crazy in love, if you ask me :)

Though I didn't get to know them as well as I do my wedding couples, when we met at their engagement session, I learned a lot about how much Ramin makes Alina laugh and how he deeply cares for her. Every time I would say, "she just adores you, Ramin...look at her..." he would quickly respond, "I love her just as much!!" So cute. Their wedding took place a few months after these images were taken and Alina was a breathtakingly beautiful bride. I mean, just look at her in these photos. Are you surprised? Me neither.

My Life in Instagram Photos - March

March was an incredible month. At a time when we are typically expecting piles of snow and cold weather, God gave us some warm, sunny, summer-like temperatures. Seriously, 25 degrees in Canada in March is just unheard of.

Who knows if it was just the gorgeous weather but I seemed to appreciate the little things just a little bit more. I went on more walks than usual, bought more flowers because they make me feel happy, spent more time with family, read more, travelled to NYC for inspiration and documented life in the in between.

Lately, my life snapshots have been through the lens of my iPhone as it's always on me and allows me to look at 'normal' and find beauty in it. The app Instagram has made doing that more fun and I wanted to share with you some of my recent favourites. If you're on it, please let me know as I'd love to follow you!
