With the warm sun beating down and a soft breeze to cool it off, you couldn't ask for a better day to be wed. Marion and Dave had waited patiently for their special day. The day they would become man and wife. With some hurdles to overcome in the process, it was finally here and the excitement was in the air. In the midst of getting ready and preparing for the big day, Marion found herself focussed on one thing, the thing that mattered most; Dave. "I can't wait to see him!" I overheard her saying many times as she pranced around the Novotel hotel room with a little extra bounce in her step.
Though I had only met Marion briefly, I could instantly tell the kind of person she was. You see, Marion isn't just a nice girl, Marion is undoubtedly one of the sweetest, most genuine people you will ever meet. I hadn't had the opportunity to shoot engagement photos of Marion and Dave (even though it had been fully planned) due to Marion needing last minute surgery on her knee. The doctors told her that there was a good chance that she wouldn't be able to walk down the aisle on her wedding day and that it would take a lot of hard work to even come close to that. When I talked to her a few weeks before the wedding she told me, "I'm working on it but I WILL walk down that aisle!" Come the wedding day, not only was Marion walking down that aisle, she was walking without any crutches, with a smile on her face, a proud father by her side, and the confidence and strength that proved those doctors wrong. I don't think they knew the girl they were dealing with :) But that's not all, oh no, Marion is a rockstar. At the reception, she tore up the dance floor like nobodies business. Oh and did I mention, again, with no crutches?! I truly admire Marion's determination and her "not taking no for an answer" attitude.
Marion and Dave's wedding was held at the gorgeous Kortright Centre in Vaughn where they were married in the woods to the sounds of chirping birds and softly rustling leaves. Being outdoors is what they love most and a big part of who they are, so naturally, it only made sense to be married there. With their ceremony in a spot so dear to their heart and their first dance that took place under the moonlight late into the evening, it was a romantic, emotional, and inspirational wedding that I won't soon forget. Marion and Dave, thank you from the bottom of my heart for having me be a small part of your amazing day. It meant more than you know and I hope these images remind you of how truly special the day was for you, and for everyone a part of it.
To help in supporting cancer research, Marion bought this donated dress from The Brides Project and plans to donate it back to them for another bride to do the same.I absolutely love the look of wild flowers! The beautiful Marion. Thanks to my second shooter Jenn for capturing these awesome shots of Dave! So happy to be married! Loved the guys socks!! The Kortright Centre was absolutely amazing for photos (and light!).
